To improve the legal system for registration, standardize the registration of traditional Chinese medicines and natural medicines and encourage innovation, the State Food and Drug Administration (SFDA) formulated and recently issued the Technical Requirements for the Study of New Natural Medicines. The Technical Requirements specifies the general principles, the relevant requirements on pharmaceutical research, pharmacology and toxicology research, as well as the requirements on clinical research for the development of natural medicines.
